FIRST ADMIRAL DATO’ SUBRAMANIAM RAMAN NAIR (R) is the Secretary-General of Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM) elected on 14 December 2019. He is also the Chairperson of Administrative Committee responsible for the effective management of the council. He is the current President of Kuala Lumpur Para Athletics Association and a Council Member of Malaysia Para Athletics Association. He joined the National Sports Council Board of Management on 30 January 2023. His appointment provides an opportunity for PCM to be represented directly to drive the development of sports in the country, especially the Paralympic Movement to a scale greater height.
Admiral Subra has been involved with sports movement since the 1990s and with para-sports movement in particular since 2015, being one of the VP of PCM from 2015 to 2019. He was a career naval officer who served the Royal Malaysian Navy for almost 40 years after graduating from Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth United Kingdom, retiring in the rank of First Admiral. He has undergone numerous military training and education qualifications obtained from various military institutions in Australia (Training Technology), Naval Post Graduate School Monterey California (Defence Resource Management), Security Studies Centre Honolulu Hawaii and Sea Navigation Specialist UK. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration majoring in Total Quality Management from Newport University (USA) and Diploma in Security Studies from Armed Forces Staff College Haigate (Malaysia). In sports, he obtained a Diploma in Advanced Sports Management from International Olympic Committee in 2016.
Admiral Subra is currently a businessman involved in quality management related training, medical aesthetic training, security services and sports consultancy activities in the ASEAN region.
