Asian Para Games

22 - 28 October 2023

The 2022 Asian Para Games, also known as the IV Asian Para Games and popularly known as the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Para Games, is a multi-sport competition that takes place in Hangzhou, China from 22 to 28 October 2023 for Asian athletes with disabilities. After Guangzhou in 2010, Hangzhou will be the second Chinese city to host the Asian Para Games. Para athletes from 45 Asian nations will compete in 22 sports.

The 22 sports offered Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Board Games – Chess & Go, Boccia, Canoeing, Para Cycling – Road & Track, Blind Football, Goalball, Para Judo, Lawn Bowls, Para Powerlifting, Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, Para Shooting, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Para Taekwondo, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing and Wheelchair Tennis.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium on 22 October and 28 October 2023 respectively. The Games organised by the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games supported by Asian Paralympic Committee.

Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM) in collaboration with National Sports Council (MSN) will send our Malaysian Para Contingent to the Games.

Team Managers’ Meeting & Medal Target Setting Workshop

Team Managers’ Meeting 

Chef de Mission (CdM) and Vice President of Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM), Mr KM Rajendran chaired the Malaysian Para Contingent Team Managers' Meeting on 11 October 2023 at Hotel Everly, Putrajaya. Key personnel from PCM, National Sports Council (MSN), National Sports Institute (ISN) and all 14 Team Managers: Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Cycling – Road & Track, Para Powerlifting, Para Shooting, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Tennis, Boccia, Blind Football and Lawn Bowls attended this meeting. The Team Managers were briefed on Timeline, Pre-Departure Activities, Overview of Games Activities, Logistical Arrangement, Motivation Camp and general information about the support system for the contingent. They were reminded of their responsibilities in ensuring interest of athletes and image of country are upheld at all times. 

Medal Target Setting Workshop

The Medal Target Setting Workshop was officiated by En Arrifin Mohd Ghani, Deputy Director (Strategic) of National Sports Council (MSN). 
Objective of workshop was to scrutinize the final status of our Malaysian Para Contingent’s quest for medals and make an assessment of the medal prospects for each sport and events. The final assessment was made based on athletes registered and accepted for events offered by respective sports and evaluation of competing athletes. 

First Admiral Dato’ Subramaniam Raman Nair (R), Secretary-General of PCM and En. Sofian Hamzah, Director of Paralympic Sports Division, National Sports Council grilled the Team Managers and Coaches till a realistic assessment was made.

Hangzhou 2022 4th Asian Para Games - Secretariat & Team Managers' Meetings

Malaysia will take part in Hangzhou 2022 4th Asian Para Games which will take place from 22 to 28 October 2023. Malaysia will compete in 14 out of the 22 para-sports offered at the Games. Our athletes will compete in Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Cycling – Road & Track, Para Powerlifting, Para Shooting, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Tennis, Boccia, Blind Football and Lawn Bowls. 

Vice President of Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM), Mr KM Rajendran who has been selected as the Chef de Mission (CdM) chaired his first Secretariat & Team Managers' Meetings on 17 August 2023 at MSN, Bukit Jalil. Key personnel from PCM, National Sports Council (MSN), National Sports Institute (ISN) and Team Managers of the 14 sports attended this meeting. 

CdM Mr KM Rajendran mentioned that the main objective of this meeting is to orientate all personnel going as support team to be conversant with respective responsibilities to facilitate the participation of the athletes in games without any hiccups. He said, “We have all have a responsibility to ensure the interests of the athletes and image of the country is given top priority at all times when in Hangzhou.”

4th Asian Para Sports Athlete Selection Committee Meeting, Hangzhou 2022

14 July 2023

The National Sports Council (MSN) and Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will send a para sports contingent to participate in the 4th Asian Para Games, Hangzhou 2022 which is scheduled to take place on 22 October to 28 October 2023 in Hangzhou, China. A total of 22 sports offering Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Board Games – Chess & "Go", Boccia, Canoeing, Para Cycling – Road & Track, Blind Soccer, Goalball, Para Judo, Field Bowling, Para Powerlifting, Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, Para Shooting, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Para Taekwondo, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing and Wheelchair Tennis.

PCM President, Dato Sri Megat D Shahriman Dato' Zaharudin chaired the Selection Committee Meeting with representatives from KBS, MSN, PCM Secretariat and National Para Sports Associations on 14 July 2023 at Casa 4, MSN, Bukit Jalil.

MSN representatives consist of YBhg Dato Hj Ahmad Shapawi bin Ismail (Director General of MSN), and Tuan Mohd Sofian bin Hamzah (Director of the Paralympic Division). PCM representatives consist of PCM Secretary-General First Admiral Dato' Subramaniam Raman Nair (R) as well as Officers and Trainers from related associations.

Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games Chefs de Mission Seminar 

3 - 6 July 2023

Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games Chefs de Mission Seminar was held from 3 – 6 July 2023 at Grand Metropark Hotel, Hangzhou. Primary objective of the seminar was to disseminate information about the games and orientate all participants to the various venues. President of Asian Paralympic Committee, Mr. Majid Rashed and representatives from 32 NPCs in Asia attended the Seminar whilst another 13 NPCs attended virtually. 

All participants were briefed about Asian Para Games' policies and procedures during the sessions. It included a Pre-Delegation Registration Meeting (Pre-DRM) to discuss about registration issues related to competition, accommodation and accreditation. 

Malaysian delegation was led by Mr KM Rajendran who is the CdM as well as Vice President (Development) of Paralympic Council Malaysia, accompanied by En Mohd Najib Hassan, an official from National
