"Rimau Emas" Talent ID Program

Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM), in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department (JPWKL) and Kuala Lumpur Para Athletics Association (POPKL), will launch "Rimau Emas" Program – a young children intervention program for the development of Para Athletics for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This program takes place from April to September 2024, at Paralympic Sports Centre of Excellence in Kampong Pandan. This program is a response to High Level Committee (Chaired by Deputy PM 1, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) directives for Ministry of Youth & Sports (KBS) and Ministry of Education (MoE) to work closely for Talent ID of young school children for involvement in sports. This is a first attempt by PCM to deal directly with MoE – using KBS programs: i-Talent & i-Train.

The objectives are:
1. To identify talents from children with SEN in the field of Para-Athletics.
2. To develop the ability of children with SEN in the field of Para-Athletics.
3. To improve skills of teachers in the field of sports coaching for children with SEN.
4. To provide a career pathway for children with SEN in the field of sports.
5. To produce Para-Athletic talents for participation in tournaments up to Paralympic Games.
